Published articles reflect the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them.

Peer-reviewed publications support and embody the scientific method. Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, peer reviewers, members of the Editorial Board, and the publisher—must comply with established standards of ethical conduct.

Teknotika: Teknologi dan Informatika is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, sponsorships, or other commercial revenues do not influence editorial decisions.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The editors of Teknotika: Teknologi dan Informatika are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. Editorial decisions must be based on the academic validity, originality, relevance, significance, and contribution of the manuscript to researchers, practitioners, and readers.

Editors may be guided by the policies of the Editorial Board and must comply with applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, plagiarism, research ethics, and other matters related to publication.

Editors may consult other editors or peer reviewers when making publication decisions.

Fair Play

Editors must evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic and intellectual merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field.

Manuscripts must be evaluated without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, institutional affiliation, disability, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose information concerning a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, members of the Editorial Board, and the publisher, as appropriate.

All submitted manuscripts and related communications must be treated as confidential documents.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials, data, information, or ideas disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by editors in their own research without the explicit written consent of the authors.

Editors must withdraw from the editorial process when they have financial, institutional, professional, personal, or other conflicts of interest related to the authors or the submitted manuscript.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making informed editorial decisions. Through constructive communication, peer reviewers may also assist authors in improving the quality, clarity, accuracy, and scholarly contribution of their manuscripts.

Promptness

A selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review a manuscript or is unable to complete the review within the specified period must promptly notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Reviewers should accept review assignments only when they possess the appropriate expertise and can complete the review objectively and within the required timeframe.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Manuscripts must not be shown to or discussed with other persons unless authorized by the editor.

Reviewers must not retain, reproduce, distribute, or use information contained in the manuscript for personal, professional, or commercial purposes.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively, fairly, professionally, and constructively. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate and unacceptable.

Reviewers should clearly express their assessments and provide relevant arguments, explanations, evidence, or references to support their recommendations.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Statements concerning observations, derivations, findings, or arguments that have previously been published should be supported by appropriate citations.

Reviewers should also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published or submitted works of which they are aware.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through the peer-review process must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal advantage.

Reviewers must not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, institutional, financial, personal, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, funding bodies, or institutions connected to the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors reporting original research must present an accurate account of the research conducted and provide an objective discussion of its significance.

The underlying data must be represented accurately and honestly in the manuscript. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail, methodological information, and references to enable other researchers to understand, verify, and, where appropriate, replicate the study.

Fraudulent, fabricated, falsified, manipulated, misleading, or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their submitted works are entirely original. When authors use the work, data, ideas, figures, tables, or words of others, these sources must be appropriately cited, quoted, and acknowledged.

Plagiarism in all its forms, including direct plagiarism, mosaic plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and inappropriate paraphrasing, constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit or publish manuscripts describing substantially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication.

Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Authors must disclose any closely related manuscripts that have been published, submitted, or are under consideration elsewhere.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources that have influenced the research, methodology, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the manuscript.

Information obtained privately, including through conversations, correspondence, peer review, or discussions with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit permission from the source.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, data acquisition, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the reported study.

All individuals who have made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors. Individuals who have contributed to specific aspects of the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately as contributors.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:

  1. all appropriate co-authors are included in the manuscript;

  2. no inappropriate individuals are listed as authors;

  3. all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript; and

  4. all co-authors have agreed to the submission of the manuscript for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial, personal, institutional, professional, or other substantive conflicts of interest that could be perceived as influencing the results, analysis, or interpretation of their manuscript.

All sources of financial support, grants, sponsorships, institutional assistance, and other forms of research funding must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be requested to provide the raw data associated with their manuscript for editorial review. Authors should be prepared to provide public access to such data, where appropriate and permitted, and should retain the research data for a reasonable period after publication.

Authors must comply with applicable regulations concerning data protection, confidentiality, intellectual property, and research participants.

Research Involving Humans or Animals

When research involves human participants, personal data, animals, or potentially hazardous procedures, authors must ensure that the study complies with applicable laws, institutional regulations, and ethical standards.

Authors must include a statement of ethical approval, informed consent, or other relevant ethical authorization in the manuscript, where applicable.
